A Toxically Satiric Portrait of American Life. - Washington Post Bootycandy, by the daring playwright Robert OHara, is a raucous, hilarious and very un-politically-correct satire about a young mans outrageous odyssey growing up gay and black in modern America in a wild series of ribald (nudity alert), disturbing, heartwarming and downright hysterical scenes from the 1970s to the present. Bootycandy takes a fearless and subversive look at attitudes toward sexuality in African-American culture in a range of ribald (nudity alert), disturbing, heartwarming and downright hysterical scenes from his childhood home, his church, dive bars and discos, motel rooms and even a nursing home. Bootycandy is directed by Terrence Spivey and features actors Wesley Allen, India Burton, Rochelle Jones, Michael May and Nate Miller. Bootycandy opens this Fri, March 25 and runs Thu-Sat at 8 pm through April 16 at the Liminis Theater, 2438 Scranton Rd, Cleveland 44113 in the historic Tremont neighborhood.
