Through engaging, substantive, and often humorous dialogue, audiences are kept actively engaged and ready to participate in the post-show discussion. The call to action is inspiring because of—rather than in spite of—its willingness to call out difficulties while encouraging audiences to continue to make an effort to cross racial lines in friendship and work toward greater equity. The lead role of “Debbie” in this Lorain County production is played by Lydia Lee, actor and singer based in Elyria. She hopes to serve, encourage, and inspire community members to embrace the best parts of themselves and aspire to [achieving] their dreams and goals for the benefit of everyone. This community social trust project, produced by Getting to We, is brought to you at the French Creek Theatre and Nature Center courtesy of our community partners and sponsors: the Community Foundation of Lorain County, Huntington Bank, the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce, the Lorain County Metro Parks, the Lorain County Urban League, the Lorain Historical Society, the Lorain Public Library System, and the Nord Family Foundation.
