Join us for a Valentine's Day Swing Dance with Get Hep Swing and Hot Djang! Roses are red, violets are blue, everyone's welcome, especially you! Bring your sweetheart! Find a sweetheart! Since this is our Valentine dance, expect lots of red and pink decor, a photo op area full of hearts, a fun mixer that you can choose to play, chocolate, and lots of other sweet treats. WHEN - Friday, February 14th WHERE - Lakewood Masonic Temple, 15300 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio. Parking is available in the lot behind the building, in the lot behind the shopping plaza, and on the street. There is an elevator in the back of the building. If you would like to use the elevator please enter through the door on the corner near the parking lot. The main entrance is through the double doors that face Detroit. Chairs without armrests are plentiful. DANCE LESSON - 8-9 Beginner-friendly Jitterbug lesson. Maybe we will teach some variations on the cuddle or the sweetheart. What do you think? Should we? Come solo or with a friend or friends but, you do not need to attend with a dance partner as we rotate partners during the lesson. The dance champs at Get Hep Swing make learning how to partner dance fun and easy. ENTERTAINMENT - Live music from 9-12 with Hot Djang! These Jazz Manouche specialists bring a little French Oh, La La! to this dance with their Django Rhinehardt style of swing. We will have a spectacular night filled with 3 hours of music that is perfect for dancing Lindy, Jitterbug (East Coast Swing), Balboa, Charleston, Shag and maybe even a little Latin and ballroom too. Are you a man who wants to learn how to follow or a woman who wants to learn how to lead? That's cool! This idea is not new to the swing dance scene. We are the easiest club to join, if you have an interest and an open mind, you are in. :) WHO WE ARE - We are the swing dance company Get Hep Swing. Get Hep Swing is lead by owner, founder, and multi-year national and international swing dance champion, Valerie Salstrom. We love spreading the gospel of swing dancing and we are excited to share the language and culture of this dance form with you. It is important for us to let you know that this dance style started in the African-American community in the ballrooms of Harlem, New York in the late 1920s/early 1930s. This dance has many opportunities for both partners to creatively express themselves and this creates an incredibly empowering and joyful experience.
