Weathervane Playhouse to present the Pulitzer Prize-winning Doubt: A Parable. Doubt requires more courage than conviction does, and more energy; because conviction is a resting place and doubt is infinite. AKRON - The second show in Weathervane Playhouse's 2017-18 John L. Dietz Series is the Pulitzer Prize-winning Doubt: A Parable by John Patrick Shanley running February 1 - 11. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 2:30 p.m. on Sundays. Sister Aloysius, a strong-minded woman, wrestles with conscience and uncertainty when she is faced with serious concerns about one of her male colleagues, Father Flynn. Melanie YC Pepe, the Chief Executive Artistic Director of Weathervane Playhouse, directs this production and says of the show "Doubt is a disease that infects the mind. It is insidious and pervasive. It calls into question everything you have ever believed. It reinforces your darkest suspicions. It lurks behind every conceivable explanation. People only see what they're prepared to confront. Fact, interpretation and understanding become a battle of perceptions. When different perceptions battle against each other, the truth has a way of getting lost. And when the truth gets lost... The monsters get out." Written by John Patrick Shanley - the Bronx-born-and-bred playwright and Academy Award-winning screenwriter of Moonstruck - Doubt: A Parable dramatizes issues straight from today's headlines within a world re-created with knowing detail and a judicious eye. The John L. Dietz Series and Doubt: A Parable are made possible by a generous donation from Margaret J. Dietz. Due to adult themes, this play is not suitable for young children.
