Mary Queen of Peace, a Roman-Catholic parish in Cleveland's Old Brooklyn neighborhood, is need of a paid soprano for its semi-professional choir. The choir numbers 18 singers and performs music ranging from chant and sacred music of the Renaissance to modern 20th and 21st century choral music. The time commitment is one Thursday rehearsal from 6:30 - 8:30 pm and one Sunday morning mass, with a call time of 10:00 am and mass at 11:00 am. There are occasional extra commitments through the year. The Schola consists of the professional singers singing together as a choir with 2-3 on a part. There is no additional time commitment; repertoire is rehearsed and performed within the confines of the times listed above. The choir and schola have performed in the cathedrals of several Ohio cities and this fall will perform in a special concert in cooperation with Notre Dame College. The choir and schola strive for the highest levels of choral excellence. Singers do not have to be Catholic, but must have excellent sight reading skills and be able to commit to most rehearsals and performances. Auditions will be held by appointment. Compensation is negotiable and based upon education and experience. If interested, please contact the Director of Music, David Jaronowski at davidjaronowski@aol.com.
