*LAND OF CLEVE REVIEW: * *'Green Day’s American Idiot' * *at Beck Center for the Arts * *is Powerfully Provocative* *American Idiot*'s plot follows the stressful splintered lives of three childhood friends who are experiencing the growing pains of adulthood. Johnny (Dan Folino) is the restless one who heads to the big city to pursue his musical career and find true love, but ultimately becomes an addict and gets lost along the way. Tunny (Jonathan Walker White) also leaves home, but eventually enlists in the military and serves in a war. Will (Riley Ewing) wants to join them on their adventure, but has to grow up quickly after his girlfriend (Annalise Griswold) shows up pregnant. Artistic Director Scott Spence stages the show with stadium-quality sights and sounds, plenty of pyrotechnics that add up to a definite wow factor. Co-Musical Directors Larry Goodpaster and Bryan Bird deliver bigtime on the musical front, while Choreographer Martín Céspedes (aided by Dance Captain Holly K. Harris) never lets the performers rest for more than a few minutes. Heading up the cast, Folino is perfect as the angst-filled Johnny, and White and Ewing are equally strong as his slacker buddies. Other standouts include DeVon Settles as a charismatic Army recruiter, Joe Virgo as a truly scary drug dealer, and Kristen Hoffman as Will's sympathetic but strong-willed girlfriend. Olivia Kauffman makes an especially indelible impression as Johnny's elusive love interest. The vocally versatile and physically flexible ensemble plays an impressive array of supporting roles, and includes Mike Brandt, Kyle Burnett, Adam James Cooper, Carlos Cruz, Tekla Gaughan, Trey Gilpin, Codie Higer, Devon Jordan, Pat Miller, Danny Simpson, Carleigh Spence, Danny DiMarino, Richie Gagen and John Lagucki... *READ THE FULL REVIEW HERE:* *http://inthelandofcleve.blogspot.com/2015/08/cleve-review-green-days-america... <http://inthelandofcleve.blogspot.com/2015/08/cleve-review-green-days-american-idiot.html>*
