Severance Music Center Composer Eric Whitacre conducts The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus in a performance of The Sacred Veil, written in 2018 with friend and librettist Charles Anthony Silvestri after the loss of Silvestri's wife Julie to cancer. The Sacred Veil grapples with love, loss, and its ensuing grief. The program opens with a conversation with Whitacre and Silvestri, followed by Reena Esmail's When the Violin, conducted by Lisa Wong, Director of Choruses.
