June 3, 2026 Hello Potential Director for Workshop Players As an all volunteer theatre, we have been pleased and gratified to have had at least twice as many candidates as we have slots from the very first year we began choosing directors and seasons with this method. I’m pleased to say we have already had a number of inquiries, plus two complete applications. Our 2026-2027 season has already been advertised and with this letter we have begun planning for our 2027-2028 season. We all hope you may have an interest. It is our belief that directors need to have an investment in whatever is chosen to produce. Therefore, instead of choosing a season randomly, then searching for directors, we like to do it the opposite way. *We ask that you, as a potential director, submit no fewer than 4 and no more than 5 shows that you would like to direct. Include a description of each play (that could be copied from the licensing site), why you believe those particular pieces would be effective in our theater and, if you have not directed with us before, also include a theatrical resume. * *The deadline to apply is JULY 31, 2026. * *We are especially interested in CHRISTMAS PLAYS, and CHESTNUTS *(both *Arsenic and Old Lace *and *Harvey *sold particularly well). Our audiences like to be entertained and that is our focus. Please do not submit absurdist or highly controversial pieces. As a former one room schoolhouse, we do have some limitations to be kept in mind when applying. We have very limited backstage space, so cannot store a lot of scenery. Having very large casts with 20+ cast members would be difficult to accommodate. We also do no more than one musical a year and some seasons do not include a musical at all. If you are interested in submitting a musical, please also suggest straight plays to enhance your chances of being selected. Choosing a season is always exciting. Since the pandemic we have re-built a solid audience, plus many actors and technicians who call us their “home” theater. We look forward to hearing from you with some terrific choices. *Please submit applications to: * *Pat Price, Chair of the Play Reading Committee by July 31, 2026. * *pprice203@gmail.com* <pprice203@gmail.com> -- Workshop Players Theatre 44820 Middle Ridge Road P.O.
