FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 23, 2024 Monty Python's Spamalot Opens this Weekend at the Youngstown Playhouse! YOUNGSTOWN, OH – The Millennial Theatre Company (MTC) presents *Monty Python's* Spamalot at the Youngstown Playhouse (600 Playhouse Ln, Youngstown, OH 44511), Friday, July 26, Saturday, July 27 at 7:30 and Sunday, July 28 at 2:30pm, Friday, August 2 and Saturday, August 3 at 7:30pm, Sunday, August 4 at 2:30pm. MONTY PYTHON’S SPAMALOT retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and features a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits, and French people. Did we mention the bevy of beautiful showgirls? The outrageous, uproarious, and gloriously entertaining story of King Arthur and the Lady of the Lake will delight audiences as they search for the Holy Grail and “always look on the bright side of life.” Director Joe Asente states that this musical is the perfect summer production for MTC, "We always try to pick a summer show that is fun, splashy, light, and an escape from reality, and I think Spamalot is all of that and more. We have had a somewhat dark season of shows this year, so we thought it was more important than ever for us to pick a fun, lighthearted show to round out our season. The show encourages you to Always Look On The Bright Side of Life, and there is no better way to do that than to take in this hilarious romp of a musical this weekend and next!" Asente continued, "This show has something for everyone. Fans of the movie *Monty Python and the Holy Grail* will see all of their favorite moments translated to the stage in a way that honors the original. Those unfamiliar with the source material will not be lost, however, as the show is hilarious on its own, and also totally reinvents several elements of the movie and not only spoofs the story of King Arthur, but also the genre of musical theatre as a whole, so there is truly something for everyone!" Spamalot has enjoyed great success since its opening, and Asente states that MTC hopes to continue that success with their production, “Spamalot is a beloved musical theatre piece that even took home the big prize on Tony Awards night back when it opened, and has since enjoyed a national tour, and even a Broadway revival this past season. The show is about to be restricted again due to another planned tour next season, so this is the final chance for audiences to see the show without paying Broadway prices for some time. Therefore, there has never been a better time to come check this out!" The cast includes: Nate Beagle, Brandy Johantges, Ryan Lamb, George Maillis, Edward Bazzell, Ben Doss, Tom Kijauskas, Ty Hanes, Andy Scott, Jillian Hibbard, Aubrey Verno, Rebecca Williams, Sydney Campbell, Sammie Gurd, Hannah Sinclair, Steve Millsap, Josh Cummings, Daniel Chiaberta, Sam Campbell, Ethan Blevis, Roz Blystone, Michelle Jalbert, and Paula Stehphenson.
