Weathervane Playhouse is set to take you "Under the Sea" in the Disney musical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's Classic AKRON - Weathervane Playhouse presents its first production of our 2017-2018 season, Disney's The Little Mermaid, July 27 through August 13, 2017. Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney's The Little Mermaid is a beautiful love story for the ages. With its tuneful songs and compelling story, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including Under the Sea, Kiss the Girl, Poor Unfortunate Souls, and Part of Your World. Director Chris Simmons says of the production, "I am beyond thrilled to be making my Weathervane directing debut with Disney's The Little Mermaid and with the Emerging Artist Series! I am continuously impressed with the level of talent and professionalism of the young actors at Weathervane." Disney's The Little Mermaid runs Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. for the first weekend, and at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2:30 p.m. on Sundays for the remainder of the run. Each Friday night during the run of "Disney's The Little Mermaid" will be preceded by a pre-show party with other royal dignitaries! On July 28, August 4 and 11 you can bring your young prince or princess to see Disney's The Little Mermaid, and they can take part in activities, photos, and light refreshments with some of their favorite royalty before the show. They will also have a chance to meet Ariel after the show. This event starts at 6:30 p.m. and runs up until show time and is free with your ticket purchase to that evening's performance.
