Coming up on APPLAUSE, airing Thursday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m. on =
WVIZ/PBS
(Repeats Sunday at 12:30 p.m.)

Welcome to another round of APPLAUSE with host Dee Perry...

			*	APPLAUSE looks through the camera lens, at the indelible images of =
the 20th Century. From the world of entertainment, to America at war, =
photographic images of the 20th Century not only give us something to =
remember but can also leave quite a lasting impression. On view now at =
the Contessa Gallery (located at the Playhouse Square Center) is a =
collection of prize-winning photos called "Images of Our Time," which =
brings together famous pictures from the Associated Press and the pages =
of Life Magazine. =20

			*	APPLAUSE looks at a local star of the silver screen who has never =
been in a movie. The term "movie star" usually refers to the actors, =
even directors, who bring high drama or great comedy to the screen. But =
where would the movies of the Silver Screen be without the help of =
another key player...the guy sitting way back in the projection booth? =
Ideastream's David C. Barnett reports that some of these unsung heroes =
are, indeed, stars in their own right.

			*	APPLAUSE celebrates National Poetry Month with a performance poet =
who teaches "Slam 101." For many, poetry is something that's either =
read in a high school English class or in the confines of a coffeehouse. =
However, the poetry world has recently received a shock to the system =
from a new breed of writers. Known as "performance poets," this new =
generation is taking poetry into the raucous competitions known as =
"slams." In celebration of National Poetry Month, at the end of April, =
a group of top-rate poets will take the stage of the Hanna Theater, for =
a show called "Slam 101." Former National Poetry Slam Champion - Lisa =
Buscani - joins Dee Perry to talk about the show.

Thank you,
Tamme Benepe-Nelson
