Dobama Theatre presents the Ohio Premiere of
Kimberly Akimbo
by David Lindsay-Abaire
directed by Walter Grodzik
September 5-28, 2003
Ohio Premiere!

Dobama Theatre is proud to open its 2003-2004 season with the Ohio premiere
of Kimberly Akimbo by David Lindsay-Abaire. Known for his plays Fuddy Meers
and Wonder of the World, Lindsay-Abaire has created a surreal and hilarious
play in which the main character, Kimberly, a teenager with a rare aging
disease, may just be the sanest member of her family.

In this wacky off-Broadway comedy, sixteen-year-old Kimberly (Paula Duesing)
is forced to re-evaluate her life while juggling a hypochondriac mother
(Tracey Field), drunken father (John Kolibab) and ex-convict aunt (Joan
Fuglewicz). She also struggles with her own mortality and the possibility
of first love with awkward, unpopular 16-year-old schoolmate Jeff (Sean
Fitzgerald). Ben Brantley of The New York Times called Kimberly Akimbo “the
comedy of the year.”

Special performances will include a special signed (ASL) performance on
Friday, September 12th at 8:00 p.m. and a special audio-described
performance on Sunday, September 14th at 2:30 p.m.

featuring Paula Duesing*, Tracey Field, Sean Fitzgerald, Joan Fuglewicz and
