Detroit Avenue: DOCUMENTARY WORKSHOP, back by popular demand from the=20
2002 OIFF, with New York City-based production company Sugar=20
Pictures, which has produced projects for HBO, CINEMAX, and PBS. The=20
workshop provides hard-won lessons from professional filmmakers on=20
researching, fund-raising, producing, and marketing non-fiction=20
films. DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION IS OCTOBER 15; space is limited and=20
on a first-come, first-serve basis. Fee for the class is $150.=20=20

=B7 Sunday, November 2, 9a-5p, at WVIZ/PBS-IdeaStream, 4300=20
Brookpark Road: 4th ANNUAL DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY (DP) WORKSHOP with=20
Chip Karpus, Edward Feil, and Cleveland legend Robert C. Banks, Jr.=20
An IP signature event, this wildly popular, hands-on workshop allows=20
participants to help three DPs light and shoot scenes on 16mm film,=20
which is then screened the next weekend at the festival. Fee for the=20
workshop is $20, which includes admission to the 10th Anniversary=20
OIFF Friday evening, November 7.

=B7 Monday, November 3, 8p: the Ohio premiere of the feature film=20
FLIGHT FROM DEATH: THE QUEST FOR IMMORTALITY. Narrated by Gabriel=20
Byrne, the film is an epic documentary dealing with the ways our=20
everyday behaviors are affected by an awareness of our own mortality.

=B7 Tuesday, November 4, 6p and 8p: a short film program at 6p and
at 8p, in honor of Election Day, is the Ohio premiere of the feature=20
film UNPRECEDENTED: THE 2000 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. A riveting story=20
about the battle for the Presidency in Florida and the undermining of=20
democracy in America from co-executive producer Amy Sommer who was=20
nominated for an Academy award in 1997 for "Waco: The Rules of=20
Engagement".

=B7 Wednesday, November 5, 5:30p, 7:30p and 9:30p: a premiere=20
presentation ($20 for films, discussion on CHOICE, reception) at=20
5:30p, a short film program at 7:30p, and at 9:30p the world premiere=20
of the feature film THE DEVIANTS. An outrageous comedy about a=20
matchmaker for people with very unusual dating problems. By returning=20
filmmaker Reid Waterer whose short "My Neighbor the Freak"
was a finalist for the OIFF's Best Short Film.

=B7 Thursday, November 6, 9a-9p: OHIO DAY, films written,=20
directed, photographed, and starring Ohioans, starting at 9a and=20
ending at 9p with the Ohio premiere of HUNGRY HEARTS (A well-known=20
gourmet chef for the rich and famous has been hired to cater a feast=20
for a small group of beautiful women, a task that seems routine until=20
the chef realizes that this is a suicide party) starring an exemplary=20
cast of well-known faces from television, and Hollywood and=20
independent films.=20

=B7 Friday, November 7: noon-8p: Short and feature films all day and=20
night plus the PREMIERE PRESENTATION at 6p of the Ohio premiere of=20
the feature film PARTNERS OF THE HEART (Narrated by Morgan Freeman,=20
the film is about a black apprentice with a genius for surgery and a=20
white surgeon who dared defy medical gospel forging a partnership=20
that changed the course of medical history), panel discussion on RACE=20
AND ITS HISTORY IN AMERICA, reception.=20=20

=B7 Saturday, November 8, noon-8p: Short and feature films all day
and night, one highlight at 6p is the world premiere of the feature=20
film NEVER TRUST A SERIAL KILLER (An eccentric Chicano's obsession
with catching a serial killer turns his "roommate's" world
upside down) from well-known and award-winning television and film=20
talent both behind and in front of the camera.

=B7 Sunday, November 9, noon-8p: Short and feature films all day and=20
night, one highlight at 2p is the Ohio premiere of the feature film=20
ROBOT STORIES (Four stories about love, death, family and robots is=20
science fiction from the heart, set in a world of robot babies,=20
android office workers and digital immorality) from award-winning=20
filmmaker Greg Pak and with on-camera talent from "The Joy Luck
Club" and the NBC drama "Crossing Jordan".
