Christmas at Maxwell's
Synopsis: Christmas at Maxwell's is an inspirational but light romantic
Christmas drama, a story about the human struggle, the power of love, forgiveness,
trust and uplifting the human spirit. It is the story of a forty something man
who is struggling to answer the questions surrounding his wife's illness.
Christmas at Maxwell's is a family movie with an anticipated PG rating.
The feature film sensitively develops the story of a seriously ill Suzie, her
husband, their kids, their present and their past. Their children, Mary and
Chris blend their magical childlike powers with some unusual circumstances to
make Christmas at Maxwell's a loving, faith filled and exciting romantic drama
for the whole family. It is serious, but also fast, funny and filled with
interesting characters. Join us for Christmas, at Maxwell's.
###
Character Breakdown:
Please note: All characters are Caucasian unless specified.
Suzie Maxwell Austin: 40, warm hearted wife, mother of two children (ages
12,9), former jazz singer. Suzie is more spiritually developed than her husband.
She lives with a sense of trust and resultant joy of life that comes from it.
She knows she is dying from cancer and is trying to live her life to the
fullest each day.
Uncle Joe Carpenter: 65-80, "distant relative". Very kind, gentle old man
who is in fact an angel that comes to visit the Austin family during Christmas
time. He walks slowly, talks slowly but is acutely aware of other's feelings
and emotions.
Neil Henderson: 40's, neighbor to the Austin family. He runs a small
manufacturing company and has a simple and good life with wife Rachel and their two
children.
Rachel Henderson: 40's, mother of two young children (11, 7). Kind and
understanding neighbor to Suzie, married to Neil.
Tootsie: 65-75ish, a little old lady, eccentric. Similar in attitude to the
character Ruth Ann (from Northern Exposure who ran the local grocery store).
Feisty, widowed early in life, independent yet appreciates compliments and
attention from Al Pickerling. Our Tootsie runs a Christmas tree farm/stand.
Al Pickerling: mid 60's, eccentric, outspoken yet also has southern
gentlemanly characteristics. President of Pickling Inc. Pickerling's manufacturing
company makes machines that debone chickens - slogan is "The Colonel loves us!"
Imagine a somewhat less sophisticated and more redneck Clintonian character.
Dr. Kevin Callahan: 40's, distinguished yet open minded. Suzie's doctor and
family friend - went to a prestigious Ivy League university. Married with
several young children.
Sandy: 30's, attractive secretary in winery office. Caring, enjoys her job
and pays attention to details.
Charlie Lawson: Any ethnicity, 30-45ish, small town police man. Very kind,
Zen talking policeman who has lost his wife and young son in a car crash. He
tries to impart wisdom to the confused Andrew (main character).
Patricia Stevens: Any ethnicity, late 40's-50's - family friend who takes
Uncle Joe to the Airport.
Snow girl: 6-9 cute little girl who sticks her tongue out and gets snow
shoved in her face.
Snow girl's mother: 30-40's - a little heavyset woman - yells at Andrew to be
more aware of his surroundings.
Karen: approx 38, attractive woman, (Andrew) main character's ex-girlfriend.
She is focused on one thing, to get back into Andrew's life again, hoping to
replace his wife (Suzie) once she dies. Karen has an edge about her and is very
ambitious, yet not overly blatant in her attempts.
Bartender or Waitress: 25-50, in a small town/working class/ blues bar. No
nonsense type, seen it all before.
Reverend: Any ethnicity, 40-70, friendly, caring, thoughtful and smart
spiritual character.
Rabbi: 40-70, friendly, caring, thoughtful and smart spiritual character.
