Summer offers Clevelanders a chance to visit different
entertainment venues from those they attended during
the fall, winter and spring seasons as well as some of
their old favorites. This summer you can support our
local theatres by attending:
GREAT LAKES THEATER FESTIVAL returns to its roots this
summer. It goes back to Shakespeare offerings during
the warm months. Remember the years in the Lakewood
Auditorium? Its 43rd season will run from July
through December. THE TAMING OF THE SHREWwill be
performed in repertory with THE COMPLEAT WORKS OF
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) from July 16 through

PLAYHOUSE SQUARES STATE THEATRE is going to again
host MAMMA MIA!. The award-winning musical based on
the music of Abba, returns for a two week limited 16
performance engagement from June 29 through July 11.
It includes such songs as Dancing Queen, The Winner
Takes It All, Money, Money, Money and Take a Chance
on Me. If you didnt see it in New York, Toronto or
several years ago in Cleveland, call for tickets

Also in downtown Cleveland, OLIVER, Charles Dickens
legendary tale of a starving, orphan-boy-turned
pickpocket, will be staged from July 27 through August
8. Its a perfect show for children and adults.
LYRIC OPERA CLEVELAND returns to the Drury theatre of
the Cleveland Playhouse with a season consisting of
LITTLE WOMEN, THE MIKADO and COSI FAN TUTTE.
The season runs from June 16 through August 1. For a

CASSIDY THEATRE in Parma Heights presents CAROUSEL
from June 4 to the 27th and NINE from July 16-August
1. The latter is a coup as the show was the winner of
the 2003 Tony Award for Best Musical revival.
BAD EPITAPH THEATER COMPANY presents THE AMERICAN
REVOLUTION by Kirk Wood Bromley from June 18-July 4
at the Kulas Community Stage at Wade Oval in
University Circle. The production is free and open to
the public. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at
7PM and Sundays at 3PM. For information check their

THE BECK CENTER FOR THE ARTS will stage STEEL
MAGNOLIAS from June 4 through June 27 and the locally
produced premiere of MISS SAIGON from July 16
