featuring Lyn Ford and Ife (a.k.a. Gail Young)

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH - Two phenomenal storytellers will bring stories from
the African-American tradition to Cain Park=B9s Alma Theater for =B3A Gift of
Stories=B2 on June 25 at 7:30 p.m.  Co-presented by Cain Park and the
Cleveland Association of Black Storytellers, =B3A Gift of Stories=B2 will
feature
Lyn Ford, a renowned storyteller from Columbus, Ohio, and Clevelander Ife
(a.k.a. Gail Young) along with storyteller Jackkia and musician
extraordinaire Baba Jubal Harris.  Each teller will use her own special gif=
t
to tell stories that will warm hearts, excite imaginations and tickle funny
bones.

Ford carries on a family tradition by sharing stories from her multicultura=
l
African American heritage.  She calls this collection of folktales, ghost
tales, tall tales, small tales, original stories and poems =B3home-fried=B2
tales, in honor of her father, whose stories were far better than his
cooking.  Ford, who has provided storytelling programs and workshops for
thousands of young people and their families and mentors, became the first
storyteller in the state of Ohio to be nominated as an individual artist fo=
r
the Governor=B9s Award for the Arts in 2000.

Ife is an actress, vocalist, storyteller and prolific writer of plays,
stories, poetry and songs.  A native Clevelander, Ife grew up listening to
=B3the greatest storytellers in the world=B2=8Bher mother, father and uncle=8Btell
stories to  inspire positive change, honor her heritage and ancestry, and
raise consciousness in a combatant world.
Advance tickets for =B3A Gift of Stories=B2 are $14.  Day-of-show tickets are
$16.  Members of the Cleveland Association of Black Storytellers are
eligible for a $2 discount on one ticket. A $2 discount is also available t=
o
individuals presenting a senior citizen ID, a student ID or a Friends of
Cain Park membership card.  Cleveland Heights residents presenting a
Recreation ID and individuals presenting a Military ID receive a $3
discount.  Children=B9s tickets are 50 percent off when attending with a
parent if all attending family members hold Cleveland Heights Recreation
IDs.

Cain Park 2004 season sponsors are The A. M. McGregor Home, Cingular
Wireless, InterContinental Hotels Cleveland, Motorcars Honda/Toyota in
Cleveland Heights.=20
