CONSERVATORY PROGRAM AUGUST 17 & 18

General Information

The Beck Conservatory is a unique and intensive course of study that
will offer college preparatory instruction as well as performance
opportunities.  This program is designed for high school students who
are planning to attend college as theater or music theater majors. =20

*     Two-Year Program

*     Open to students entering grades 9 - 12

*     Students Accepted by Audition Only (Audition Date below)

*     Only 12 - 20 students will be accepted

Course work

Students take two classes weekly.  Classes take place on Saturday
afternoons for 36 weeks from September through June in the following
subjects:

            Block 1 - 8 weeks     -           Acting I & Voice and
Speech I

Block 2 - 8 weeks     -           Improvisation I & Movement I=20

Block 3 - 8 weeks     -           Acting II & Dance I

Block 4 - 4 weeks     -           Musical Theater

Block 5 - 8 weeks     -           Audition Techniques I & Special Topics

Year 2 follows a similar course of study delving further into these and
other subjects.

Performance

>From the conservatory we will cast a show that will tour to numerous
performance venues.  Students will perform multiple roles.  All students
will participate in this show as well as have the opportunity to
audition for the other Youth and Adult Theater shows at Beck Center.

            Non-Singers:  2 Contrasting Monologues (memorized) - 1
minute each

            Singers:           1 Monologue and 1 Song (memorized) - 1
minute each

                                    Must have sheet music (no tapes)

            All:                   Resume

                                    Headshot or recent photo

            Be prepared to read from a script or take direction
