Re:  AUDITIONS for Karamu Youth Theatre  Production of The Little Boy Who
Shook Up The World:The Emmett Till Story by Nicole C. Kearney Cooper

For February Black History Month, Karamu's Youth Theatre is presenting a
one-act based on the tragic death of young 14 year old Emmett Till, brutally
murdered in Money, Mississippi in 1955, for allegedly whistling at a white
woman. His murder mobilized the Civil Rights movement. This powerful one-act
was written by Indiana playwright Nicole C. Kearney Cooper. It will be a
World Premier at Karamu.


Karamu Performing Arts Theatre  holds special auditions for youth theatre
actors


Actors should prepare one 2-3 minute monologue.  Actors should be prepared
to rehearse 2-3 evenings during the week and most Saturdays. All performers
will receive complimentary tickets for some performances.

The Director is the talented “lady in Orange” from for colored girls who
have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf, Kimberly Brown.

Character Needs
2 white men, ages 18-25 (JW, Roy, Sherrif, Attorneys, Reporter)
1 white woman, age 18-25 (Carolyn)


Auditions will be held at Karamu House; 2355 East 89th Street, Cleveland,
Ohio 44106 in the Stokes Room.      Performances are: 2:00 pm Saturdays and
Sundays; Karamu’s Jelliffe Theatre.     February 5 - February 20, 2005.
