This is known as a "phishing" scam. What happens is that it takes you to
a website that looks just like your bank account (in this case paypal)
and asks you for your credit card numbers or your social security
number, pin number, etc. Then they proceed to use that information. My
bank told me to forward them the email and they will report it to
whomever and have advised that they would NEVER ask for your ss# or your
credit card # online. You can also report it to this website
www.antiphishing.org <http://www.antiphishing.org/> or just go here to
get more information (email reportphishing at antiphishing.org) Good Luck!

=20

I know it was dumb in retrospect, but the link said PayPal.com and it
sounded so official.

=20

I was told I needed to update my registration info because a fraudelant
use of my account was attempted and it left me restricted.

=20

To regain full use, I filled out all the usual stuff and even though a
red flag went up when they asked for my pin number, I thought for sure
it was a secure server and that I was indeed sending the info to PayPal.

=20

WRONG... or at least if it was PayPal, someone there is a crook.

=20

It was probably someone at PayPal though because they offer credit
cards, so someone simply made a debit card with my account info and used
it at a couple ATMs and took all my money!!!

=20

Luckily the bank is re-imbursing me, but I guess you can't trust anyone.

=20

Burned but wiser,

Bill Johns
