Arts in the cathedralYOUNG ARTISTS ' SHOWCASE    June 5, 2005 Arts in =
the Cathedral will present its 2005 Young Artists Showcase on Sunday, =
June 5th at 3:00 p.m. at Church of the Saviour in Cleveland Heights.  =
The Showcase is designed to provide public recognition and encouragement =
for serious young musicians in northern Ohio. =20

 Featured on the program will be five outstanding high school musicians =
selected by competitive audition. After an initial application and taped =
audition, the performers advanced to the live auditions where the final =
judging took place. In addition to their appearance on the Showcase, the =
competition winners will also receive a $150 cash prize.=20
 The winning performers are Rebekah Daley, French horn, from Cleveland =
who studies with David Brockett; John Gregg, marimba, from Shaker =
Heights and Katy LaFavre, marimba, from Chesterland both of whom study =
with Brandon Podjasek; Douglas Pace, a post-secondary student at the =
University of Akron who studies classical guitar with Stephen Aron; and =
Erica Zappia of Strongsville who studies viola with Peter Slowik.

 A highlight of the concert will be the appearance of trombonist Stephen =
Omelsky who recently earned a Performer's Certificate from the Eastman =
School of Music.  Mr. Omelsky is an alumnus of the Young Artists' =
Program having appeared in its inaugural recital last season. He will =
perform the Tomasi Trombone Concerto.

 The Young Artists' Showcase is free and open to the public.  A =
free-will offering will be accepted.

 Church of the Saviour is located at 2537 Lee Road in Cleveland Heights, =
one block north of Fairmount Blvd.  The church is handicapped-accessible =
and has plenty of free, lighted parking.=20
