The Organization of Chinese Americans of Greater Cleveland
With funding from Charter One Bank is proud to presents

Embracing the Hope and Understanding -
Discrimination and Hate Crime Prevention Free Workshop Series
 
(Cleveland, Ohio) Charter One Bank has awarded the Organization of
Chinese Americans of Greater Cleveland to start 2006 with a series of
workshops entitling Embracing the Hope and Understanding -
Discrimination and Hate Crime Prevention Workshop Series that will be
held monthly free to the public.
 
The purpose of this project is to conduct community based services to
address discrimination and hate crime related issues for Asian Americans
and to develop innovative responses to help the needs within the
community. Chinese/English assistant and refreshments will be available
at each workshop.
 
Workshops will commence starting February 2006 to coincide with OCAGC's
Inauguration and Chinese New Year Celebration Dinner Gala which
currently planned on February 18, 2006.  The monthly free workshops
topics are:
 
Sunday, February 19, 2006 - Discrimination and Hate Crime Movements in
the USA for Asian Americans. Featured speakers will be OCA National
President Ginny Gong.
 
Sunday, March 26 2006 - Hate Crime and Discrimination for Asian
Americans in the Greater Cleveland area. A panel discussion including
Ms. Iris M. Choi, Regional Director for the Ohio Civil Rights
Commission; Ms. Michelle Crew, Cleveland Field Office, U. S. Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission; and Ms. Cassandra Bledsoe, Project
Director Civil Rights, Department of Community Relations, Cleveland City
Hall.
 
April 2006 - Discrimination and Immigration for Asian Americans, a panel
of immigration attorneys will discuss the issues and how to overcome it.
 
Locations for the workshops will be held at Asia Plaza 2nd Floor
Conference Room located at 2999 Payne Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44114 from
1 pm to 3pm. Refreshments will be provided as well.
