AUDITIONS FOR "HAMLET" AT BECK CENTER

Beck Center to hold open auditions for the Fall 2006 Studio Theatre
production of HAMLET by William Shakespeare, directed by David Hansen.

Seeking 3 women and 3 men to complete a nine-person ensemble.  Most roles
will be double-cast.  The title role will be performed by Cleveland actor
and playwright Sarah Morton.  The roles of Polonius, Horatio and the
Gravedigger are not available.

Auditions will be Monday, July 10 and Tuesday, July 11 at Beck Center,
17801 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood.  Interested parties must make an
audition appointment by calling 216-650-0456.

Actors should prepare one Shakespearean monologue, no longer than three
minutes.  Please provide one photo and resume, if available.

Performances are September 29 - October 22.

In this non-traditional interpretation, the Danish Prince is female,
forced to assume the role of a man to perpetuate a thirty-year deception. 
Inspired by Asta Nielsen’s 1920 silent film version, the text in this
production is entirely Shakespeare’s.
