CALL FOR PLAYWRITING WORKSHOPS

Mid-America Theatre Conference Playwriting Symposium:
"Mapping New Directions in Playwriting: Creating Dramatic Texts in the Mi=
dst of Changing Theatrical Landscapes"

The Playwriting Symposium of the Mid-America Theatre Conference seeks pro=
posals for hands-on workshops focused on the writing, directing and/or de=
velopment of new scripts. Taking our lead from the conference wide theme =
of "Changing Theatrical Landscapes: Mapping New Directions in History, Pe=
dagogy and Practices for the 21st Century," topics might include a concen=
tration on developing healthy relationships between emerging directors an=
d playwrights; how to teach the writing of monologues as an avenue into t=
he ever-growing popularity of the one-person show; strategies for develop=
ing texts in non-traditional ways or for marginalized actors and audience=
s

All workshop presenters whose proposal is selected must register for the =
conference; there is no funding from the conference for travel or lodging=
 costs.  The Mid America Theatre conference takes place at the Minneapoli=
s Hyatt Hotel on March 1-4, 2007.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
=95   Please submit a description of the activity, how it fits the theme,=
 length of time needed, number of participants possible, etc.
=95   Workshop proposals must be designed to provide attendees with a rig=
orous hands-on experience focused on the writing, directing and/or develo=
pment of new scripts that provides opportunities for writers, actors, dir=
ectors, and dramaturges to explore the developing world of theatre in the=
 new millennium.
=95   All submissions must be received by October 30, 2006.
=95   Acceptance will be acknowledged by the first week of February, 2007=
