CLAGUE PLAYHOUSE TO HOLD AUDITIONS FOR CLASSIC  COMEDY=20
Auditions will be held for the classic comedy The Constant Wife by W.=20
Somerset  Maugham, on December 4 & 5 at 7:30pm at the Clague  Playhouse.  Th=
e=20
production is  scheduled for a four week run starting March 2 =E2=80=93 25,=20=
2006. The theatre=20
is located at 1371 Clague  Road in Westlake. The theatre is a wonderful and=20
intimate 93 seat performance  space. =20
The  Constant Wife, Somerset Maugham's comedy of marital manners and mores i=
s=20
a  social comedy set in 1920s upper-class  London. Constance Middleton =20
discovers that her husband is having an affair with her best friend. Rather=20=
than =20
humiliating herself and others, she denies the affair, defends the two, and=20
sets  about turning bad luck, unfaithful friends, local gossip and a broken=20=
heart=20
to  her own advantage. =20
Interesting enough, the play was first produced in Ohio  at the Ohio Theatre=
=20
in Loudonville on November 1, 1926 with Ethel Barrymore  playing the title=20
role.  The play  then premiered on Broadway with Barrymore in the title role=
, and=20
moved on to the  London stage.  The play was most  recently revived on=20
Broadway starring Kate Burton and Lynn Redgrave  Both actress were nominated=
 for a=20
2006  Tony award. =20
Director Bill Modic is looking to cast five  female and four male roles.  Al=
l=20
 roles are adult ages ranging from mid-30=E2=80=99s on up.  =20

will be taken of you at the audition.  Readings will be from the  script. =20
