"The uproarious "Act a Lady" is everything --everything-- theater always
has the potential to be but so seldom is. With it, convergence-continuum,
one of the smallest theaters in Cleveland, does what big theaters have not
in the first weeks of the new theater season: produce must-see stuff."
(Tony Brown, Plain Dealer)

ACT A LADY by Jordan Harrison is convergence-continuum's current
production at the intimate Liminis theater in Tremont. In it we visit the
Elks Club of a small Midwestern town in 1927, where the menfolk decide to
put on play dressed in "fancy-type, women-type clothes." Really fancy!
Like Marie-Antionette-era fancy, complete with big powdered wigs and
frilly dresses. When the men don the lacies it causes an uproar among the
God-fearing citizens of the town as gender lines blur, eyebrows raise,
indentities explode, and life and art are forever entangled.

It's fast-paced, campy fun with "depths of emotion that are unexpected in
a farce." (Tony Glassman in the current Gay People's Chronicle now on
newsstands) It's "a valentine to theatre, and how it transforms even the
unlikeliest folks." (Linda Eisenstein, CoolCleveland.com)
