Celebrate an era of love and rock 'n roll with this fun-filled, high
voltage, fast-paced, light-hearted and nostalgic look back at the girl

groups and soloists of the era, and features songs made popular by The
Chiffons, The Supremes, Aretha Franklin, Connie Francis, Leslie Gore,

MISS POTTER
2006 (PG) 92 min. UK/USA
Director: Chris Noonan
Cast: Renée Zellweger, Ewan McGregor, Emily Watson

A literary phenomenon of the early 20th century, world-renowned
children's author Beatrix Potter became an iconic figure, swimming
quietly, but with great fortitude, against a tide at a time when most
young women of her class aimed only to make a good marriage. She created
a series of books (such as The Tale of Peter Rabbit) and characters that
are as beloved today as they were a hundred years ago, and since their
publication they have never been out of print. Beatrix Potter has
delighted generations of children with her books, but she kept her own
private life locked carefully away. Oscar-winning star Renée Zellweger
has now brought her secret story to the screen. When Miss Potter
published her debut book, she became a writing celebrity. It led to her
courtship and her first love with publisher Norman Warne. Their
relationship and his marriage proposal in July, 1905, were to change
Beatrix's life forever.

"Known in the US for her whimsical books, Potter was an ecological
champion in the UK. The film touches on this, but mostly it's a tender
take about yearning hearts and courageous idealism" - Bruce Westbrook,
HOUSTON CHRONICLE

"The story really grows on you and it's very sweet and it's beautiful to
look at." - Richard Roeper, EBERT & ROEPER

Film Admission:
Patrons, except LCCC students/faculty/staff with valid ID, must purchase
an annual membership in the LCCC Film Society for $3.00/each, which is
good for the entire season (September through April). The admission
price for each film is $5.00/ticket with your membership card.

"Influences: Motown Greats" highlights classics and favorites from
artists like Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, and Marvin Gaye. Chinua
Hawk and Chris Cauley will share Motown stories and talk about the

and you wanted to sing along. No flash and no glitter, just simply
acoustic music from the soul. He has performed with Celine Dion in front
of 30,000 people at Madison Square Garden, written songs with Wyclef
Jean and won the 2003 Heineken Music initiative/ASCAP Foundation R&B
songwriters Grant, along with his songwriting partner Kwame Viapree for
their song "I Remember You." Chinua's other accomplishments include
winning the Disc Makers Independent Music World Series 2004, beating out
over 1,000 bands with just a guitar player to accompany him. He was also
named the APCA Multi-Cultural Artist of the year both 2004 and 2005.
