INGENUITY PREVIEW PARTY FOR FUNDERS + FRIENDS

CLEVELAND, OH - Following up on its recently announced return in 2008, the Ingenuity Festival of Art + Technology has planned a chic cocktail party benefit, offering an unveiling of Ingenuity's new web design, and a "first look" at this summer's programming - with featured artists in attendance!

Anatomy Nightclub & Lounge (1299 West 9th Street) will host a preview party benefit for Ingenuity on Friday, May 16, 2008, from 7:00 to 9:00pm. The evening program will include a brief overview by festival director James Levin, along with video entertainment and screened images of this summer's highlights, complimentary appetizers, drink specials, and live DJ.

$5 cover charge (which includes one free raffle ticket) and a portion of the cash bar proceeds will be donated to Ingenuity. Additional raffle tickets will be sold for $5 each or 3 for $10. Prizes include autographed collectables, restaurant and theater gift certificates, signed artwork, and more!

Guests in attendance are scheduled to include:

Jenny Marketou, the New York-based artist whose stunning, iconic installation entitled Red Eyed Skywalkers will overtake Playhouse Square with a swarm of 100 red balloons overlooking downtown Cleveland - several of which are equipped to capture video images from the festival and transmit to screens throughout the area and online. The result is a multidimensional exhibit that allows playful access to aerial perspectives, with a subtle commentary on public surveillance and wireless media.

Spurse, a Columbia University artist collective comprised of Petia Morozov, Iain Kerr, and Sean White, have undertaken a complex festival installation entitled Crooked River in First and Third Persons, which documents the history and current image of the Cuyahoga River via a series of interactive "songlines" - audio and video date collected directly from the water surface, and transmitted via web, cell phone, and to live broadcast outlets within the festival image.

This is the first in a series of planned "friend-raiser" events organized in anticipation of the Ingenuity Festival of Art + Technology. Ingenuity Festival will return to Playhouse Square in downtown Cleveland, July 25-27, 2008. More information and passes are available online at http://www.ingenuitycleveland.com.

2008 Supporters & Sponsors: Ingenuity gratefully acknowledges the generous contributions and vision of its impressive list of supporters and sponsors, including The George Gund Foundation, The Cleveland Foundation, Cuyahoga County Community Partnership for Arts & Culture, Ohio Arts Council, Playhouse Square, ideastream, John P. Murphy Foundation, The Abington Foundation, The Ohio Lottery, One Community Corporation, The Thomas White Foundation, and The Meisel Family Foundation. Additional 2008 supporters, sponsors, and individual donors will be announced shortly.
