Read what people are saying about Urinetown The Musical at the Beck Center...

"Beck's revival of 'Urinetown'...is flushed with success...a total delight...The cast is excellent...not a weak link in the chain...If you haven't seen it before, do so now. If you have seen it, go again."

~ Roy Berko, The Times

"If 'Urinetown' is a bellwether, it's going to be a golden season...jokes all funny - remain very much so in this deja-poo...One could go on. Or, one could just go."

~ Tony Brown, Plain Dealer

"...better than ever...Odd and marvelous...solid core of singularly talented actors...smart, acerbic and funny...now's the time to see how this show was meant to be performed."

~ Bob Abelman, Chagrin Valley Times

" ...wrapped in comical trappings so funny you may, ah, wet your pants...nothing detracts from the raging wit...one great song after another...So it would be a good idea not to miss this encore production - and that's with a capital Pee."

~ Christine Howey, Rave and Pan

"'Urintown' at Beck. I took a cousin who had never been to Beck. We laughed so hard we were weak at the end. She still doesn't believe me that they were local actors. She insists they must all be from N.Y. Broadway could not be better!"

~ An unsolicited review

Urinetown The Musical transports audiences to a Gotham-like city where a 20-year drought has made the simplest human necessity, water, more precious than gold. Attempting to regulate its consumption, the government has imposed a bizarre law-the use of private toilets is banned and an omnipotent corporation, the Urine Good Company, is charging citizens to use the bathroom! This satirical comedy pokes fun at capitalism, corporate mismanagement, political corruption, social irresponsibility; and even parodies Broadway theater itself. Beyond the absurd, beyond the ridiculous, lies Urinetown The Musical!

This show, which critics called the "must see" production of 2005, will feature the return of the original cast and creative team from Beck's production three years ago. With music and lyrics by Mark Hollman and book and lyrics by Greg Kotis, Urinetown The Musical won three 2002 Tony Awards for Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Musical Score and Best Direction and was nominated for Best Musical. This Beck Center production is again directed by Beck Artistic Director Scott Spence and features hilarious tunes like, "It's A Privilege To Pee," "Don't Be The Bunny" and "Snuff That Girl."

Beck Center for the Arts is located just 10 minutes west of downtown Cleveland at 17801 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood. Free, convenient on-site parking is available.
