The African Community Theatre at Kent State University is thrilled to announce a return to active status.  The thirty year old theatre was on hiatus during the renovation of Oscar Ritchie Hall.  Since the completion of the10 million dollar project this summer, the theatre has resumed activity and will open the season with “Legacy” a play written by Kent State graduate and instructor Traci Williams.

Legacy details one family’s involvement in a collegiate fraternity that spans generations.  It highlights the significance of fraternities and sororities in the African American community and also the guarded traditions that are conducted in secret only to be illuminated by scandal.

A.C.T.’s resident Director, Dr. Fran Dorsey, will direct the play.  A.C.T.’s Assistant Director, Jennifer Kay Jeter, will complete the scenic design and execution of scenic requirements for the production.

Auditions for the cast of “Legacy” will be held Thursday October 2nd from 5pm-8pm, Friday October 3rd from 5pm-8pm and Saturday October 4th from Noon-2pm at the African Community Theatre on the Kent State University Campus.  Interested individuals should prepare a three minute audition selection. For additional information on auditions or to volunteer, please contact Jennifer Jeter at jjeter3 at kent.edu or 330-672-0151.
