among us for a rare performance.  He has given many of us such pleasure
through the years from his gigs at Night Town, all those
Monday-through-Saturday nights in the Renaissance Hotel Lobby, and many more
places----great music plus the extra pleasure of his hospitality and

 Skeets Ross <http://home.ezezine.com/m?640=images/skeets_ross.jpg> The jazz
tradition enjoys a great history in the Cleveland area.  One of the primary
carriers of the flame for the past 60 years is pianist Skeets Ross.  Ross'
career scans much of Cleveland's history and jazz history as well.  His CD
"The Skeets Ross Trio" successfully captures his artistry and that of his
band members. His all-star group features another Cleveland jazz legend,
Lamar Gaines, on acoustic bass, and first-class drummer, Ralph Jackson.
Collectively this group has well over 100 years of professional jazz
experience--they all have been an inspiration to generations of younger
musicians and jazz fans throughout the area. 
 
Skeets Ross has multiple performance credits including appearances at
Severance Hall, Cleveland State University, Tri-C, The Cleveland Playhouse,
and major clubs and concert halls throughout the region. 
 
Lamar Gaines has backed several major stars including Erroll Garner, Teddy
Wilson, Sonny Stitt, Milt Jackson, and Roland Kirk.
 
Ralph Jackson, a prolific drummer, is a long time member of the Duke Jenkins
Trio and has worked with many big names over the years including Kenny
Burrell, Joe Alexander, Bill Hardman, and Ace Carter.
 
As a special bonus, Cleveland pianist Joe Hunter will open the show.  He
will also be backed by Lamar Gaines and Ralph Jackson.  Hunter, a professor
at Tri-C, has backed many big names at Nighttown including David "Fathead"
Newman, Ken Peplowski, Scott Hamilton, and many others.
