INDEPENDENT PICTURES AND OHIO INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL
2010 “COLLEGE FILM THROW DOWN” COMPETITION

Cleveland, Ohio (March, 2010)-Independent Pictures, a veteran in Cleveland’s independent film world, announces its first “College Film Throw Down” competition, to be produced as part of its annual Ohio Independent Film Festival (OIFF), held June 13-15, 2010 at Beachland Ballroom, 15711 Waterloo Rd. in Cleveland’s Historic Waterloo Arts District.
The competition invites any area college student to submit his or her independently-made short film, music video or animation video.  Students can submit as many finished films as they would like for a discounted $20 each.  The finalists from each college and university will vie for winner, to be voted on by the audiences during the festival.  The winning filmmaker will receive $250 and bragging rights for the college or university the filmmaker attends.  Tickets for the film festival screenings will be $10 per screening or $5.00 for students (with student ID).
The 2010 OIFF marks the 23rd festival in 16 years.  Independent Pictures is the proud parent of the 2010 Independent Screenplay Awards, in which writers are encouraged to submit finished screenplays for review and award.  Past winners of the Screenplay Awards include individuals who have gone on to Hollywood to write or produce for popular shows such as “Prison Break” and “Bones.”
To receive an entry form or information about submitting a film or screenplay, send an email to ohiofilms at yahoo.com.   Deadline for all submissions is May 1, 2010.  Tickets for the screenings can be purchased at the door or in advance at www.ticketweb.com.
The mission of Independent Pictures supports emerging and independent filmmakers by giving a voice to those that might not otherwise be heard.   Funded in part by Community Shares of Greater Cleveland and Ohio Arts Council, Independent Pictures programs entirely through filmmaker submissions.  For information about sponsoring an event, Independent Pictures, the 2010 OIFF, the College Film Throw Down or the Independent Screenplay Awards, contact Bernadette Gillota at 216-926-6166.
