INFO ON MOVIE SHOWING: Presented by Kent State University Museum, the 63rd
Annual Italian-American Council Festival, and the Akron Civic Theatre
followed by a short short presentation on the film, its Venetian setting and
costuming, on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at 3 p.m. Shown at the Civic
Theatre, 182 South Main St., Akron. This collaborative project supports the
upcoming Kent State University Museum exhibition, "Katharine Hepburn:
Dressed for Stage and Screen," opening October 2; reinforces the Akron
Civic as one of Northeast Ohio's classic big-screen movie venues; and adds a
film to Italian-American Festival programming (July 9-11, Lock 3 Park
adjacent to the Civic). Ticket revenues will be shared by the three
nonprofits.

THE MOVIE: 1955, dir David Lean. Probably the most beautiful depiction of
Venice ever filmed, it was nominated for 3 Academy Awards. David Lean who
also directed Lawrence of Arabia, Dr. Zhivago and The Bridge On The River
Kwai, considered Summertime his favorite movie and Hepburn his favorite
actress. Tells the story of an Akron, Ohio secretary who goes on vacation
to Venice. For more details, go to the Kent State University Museum page on
Facebook or search movie clips on YouTube. For more information about the
upcoming Hepburn exhibit, go to www.kent.edu/museum or the museum page on
Facebook.
