November 30, 2010 Youngstown, Ohio - Take a break from the stresses of the season and enjoy some humor during the holidays at the Youngstown Playhouse. The comedy, Inspecting Carol, written by Daniel J. Sullivan and directed by Brian Lee, opens Friday, December 10th and runs for two weekends through December 19, 2010. 

In the "show within a show," everything that can go wrong WILL go wrong when a theater company struggles to perform A Christmas Carol. Things only go from bad to worse when a wannabee actor is mistaken as a seasoned performer.

"It's so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Why not make some time for some laughter?," asked Executive Director Mary Ruth Lynn. "It's a great show for families to enjoy together."

Directed by Brian Lee, Inspecting Carol features well-known valley actors Tom O'Donnell and Terry Shears and actresses Connie Cassidy and Molly Galano.

Don't wait to see the play. Tickets for recent shows have gone quickly. Plus, you won't want to miss an opening night reception, featuring a brass quartet entertaining guests playing Christmas Carols in the lobby.

For the second year in a row, The Youngstown Playhouse is partnering with the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley to help those in need this holiday season. The Playhouse will offer a $5 discount off the regular ticket price to see Inspecting Carol to anyone donating a new unwrapped toy or winter coat.

"The holidays are an enjoyable time for many, but we cannot forget those who are in need all year long," said Lynn. "The coat and toy giveaway is just a small way we can help."

The toy and coat drive will continue throughout the run of the show. 

Performance times:
Fridays and Saturdays: December 10, 11, 17, 18 at 7:30pm
Sundays: December 12, 19 matinee at 2:30pm

Tickets prices: 
$15.00 for adults and $12.00 for seniors and students
