is holding auditions for youth in grades 1-12 for

THE WIZ
directed by Treva Offutt

Tuesday, January 18 , 4:30-8:00 PM - please come anytime between 4:30-7:30 PM

In general, there will be many opportunities to perform. You may choose to audition for a speaking role, or specify that you would like to sing, dance, or puppeteer only.
Here are some helpful tips to the audition requirements:

#1 Do be prepared to sing 16 bars of an up tempo song or a ballad. We would like to hear your range, so please sing something you are comfortable with that showcases your voice. Do NOT go find some obscure sheet music that you think the director might like. Suggestions of music: R&B, Gospel, The Wiz or Similar show tunes, etc.

#2 Do be prepared to dance. There will be some choreography to learn that will mix several styles. Please warm up while waiting and wear loose fitting clothing.  Do NOT come in cold off the street in skinny jeans that are likely to rip.

#3 Do be prepared to act. For those interested in speaking roles, sides are provided below. Please select text that best "fits" you and be familiar with it. Do NOT read the text for the first time during the audition.

#4 Do be prepared to show off. For those of you, who have a specialty in a particular dance style, juggling, twirling, or acrobatics, be prepared to show your stuff. Do NOT attempt something that you have not tried before and may require medical attention afterwards.J

#5 Do be prepared to puppeteer. If you are interested in operating a large scale or shadow puppet, please let me know. Mock-ups should be available to manipulate on your audition day. Do NOT come dressed as a puppet.
