Mercury Summer Stock kicks off its second season at the Cleveland Play House with the hilarious family musical, Doctor Dolittle, June 17–July 2, 2011. All of the characters we've come to love through the stories of Hugh Lofting and the magical movie musical are given new life in this stage version, starring Mercury Summer Stock Artistic Director Pierre-Jacques Brault as everyone’s favorite veterinarian. This classic tale of loyalty and kindness to animals crawls, trots and flies onto the Brooks Theatre stage this summer in Mercury Summer Stock’s wild and wacky world of Doctor Dolittle.

Joining Brault onstage are MSS veterans Jennifer Myor (Emma Fairfax), Brian Marshall (Mattew Muggs) and newcomer Nathan Hoty as Tommy Stubbins. MSS 2011 Company members Christopher Aldrich, Lynette Turner, Kelvette Beacham, Dan DiCello, Neely Gevaart, Elicia Bryant, Nathan Earley, Dominic Fedele, Trey Gilpin, Emily Grodzik, Philip Hamrick, Nathan Huntley, Antoinette Kula, and Melanie Leibold will also be on hand to bring out the colorful characters (both human and animal) and create the good doctor’s world.
The Leslie Bricusse tuner is filled with familiar hits including: My Friend the Doctor, After Today, and the show’s anthem, Talk to the Animals. With over a dozen life-sized puppets, designed for the Mercury Summer Stock production by the award-winning puppetmakers, PJ’s Puppets, Doctor Dolittle is sure to entertain the smallest child and put a smile on the sternest skeptic.
