*POSITION TITLE:*  DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT



The Players Guild Theatre, a professionally staffed, volunteer-based theatre
celebrating 80 years of quality live theatre, seeks a Director of
Development.  Located within the Cultural Center for the Arts in Canton, OH,
the Players Guild produces an 8 show season of musicals and dramas in two
theatres; the Mainstage, a proscenium theatre which seats 480, and the
William G. Fry Theatre, a three-quarter thrust theatre which seats 140.  The
Director of Development will be responsible for creating and implementing
fundraising strategies and principally responsible for generating the
theatre’s unearned income.  This individual will be charged with expanding
individual and institutional support.  The Director of Development will work
closely with the Producing Artistic Director and the Board of Directors to
define and achieve the organizations fundraising goals through donor
solicitation, private and government grants, fundraising events, and other
contributed income-generated activities.  A significant level of financial
growth will be expected over the next 3 years.  Qualifications include:  A
Bachelor’s of Art or Science degree, or proven professional experience in
the field of development; familiarity with foundations and corporations that
support theatre; experience in creating and implementing fundraising
strategies and achieving goals; grant writing; multi-tasking; a commitment
to excellence and superior customer service; a pleasant demeanor; strong
work ethic; and self-discipline.  Knowledge of donor management and
fundraising software are preferable.



Full time position will be available beginning November 1, 2011.

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
