Ensemble Theatre celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Black History
Month renewing its“Panorama of African-American Theatre” series with a
fourth installment “If not me, who? If not now, when?”, presenting Pearl
Cleage’s Award Winning "A SONG FOR CORETTA" and Beau Willimon’s "LOWER
NINTH".

Opening Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend, the first of the two-part
installment, is Pearl Cleage's "A SONG FOR CORETTA", inspired by the long
line of mourners who waited outside of the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church
in the rain into the wee hours of the night to pay their respects to Mrs.
King. In this wonderful and poignant story, Cleage introduces the audience
to 5 fictional African-American women ages 17-57 who find love, laughter,
and hope while waiting in line to say good-bye. The Atlanta
Journal-Constitution calls the play “a lovely, image-soaked testament to
the civil rights icon seen through the random eyes of a handful of mourners
who have lined up to say goodbye to the beloved Mrs. King…this show brims
with wit, personality and life-affirming energy."

The production is directed by Cleveland’s own theatrical treasure Margaret
Ford-Taylor. Margaret Ford-Taylor is an Emmy nominated artist who
maintains affiliations with The Paul Robeson Theatre in Buffalo, NY and
Karamu Performing Arts Center of Cleveland where she served as Executive
Director for 10 years. She has also served on the faculties of Kent State
University, University of Akron, and Cleveland State University. Most
recently Margaret appeared in one of CSU’s final productions in the Factory
Theatre, the 2011 production of “Everyman”.

The amazingly talented cast of the Ensemble Production of "A SONG FOR
CORETTA" includes Angela Winborn*, Neda Spears*, Sonia Bishop, Alecia
Henderson, and Camille Trammell. (*member of Actor’s Equity Association)

A family friendly celebration, "A SONG FOR CORETTA", is a heartwarming way
for old and young alike to celebrate the lives of Coretta Scott King and
Martin Luther King Jr. and to continue to share their legacy.
