Character breakdown:

Man In Chair: Wonderful comedic actor who is lovable, vulnerable, sincere, and loves to live in his imaginative fantasy world of musical theater. He blocks out the real world by living through these old musicals.

The following are written as stock characters from the movies/musicals of the1920s and 1930s. Although they are bigger than life they must be played honestly and believably. Everyone sings and dances.

Underling:

Mrs. Tottendale:

Big hearted, fun and people loving - a bit daft - who has lived an upper crust life. Comedic actress who sings and dances - Does a soft shoe with Underling - originally played by Georgia Engel (who studies ballet). Also is a Gracie Allen type

Robert (groom):

Young leading man - tenor - good looking, big smile - known as a toothpaste model - actor who sings, tap dances and roller skates

George (best man): Young Character man - tenor - comedic actor who sings and tap dances

Mr. Feldzieg:

Seasoned producer - comedic and likable tough producer type... but he's really not mean. Must sing and dance

Kitty:

Seasoned 'New York chorus girl' who wants to be a star - not the sharpest tack in the box. But what she really wants is to be the 'star' of Mr. Feldzieg's world. Comedic actress who sings and dances well. Character voice.

2 Gangsters/:

Comedic actors who sing and dance and do schtick well

Pastry chefs

Adolfo: Don Juan over-the-top excellent comedic actor who really believes who he is - the Latin Lover - Baritone - Latin accent and bigger than life. Sings and dances well.
