*The Drowsy Chaperone* by Bob Martin and Don McKellar with music and lyrics
by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison is a parody of American musical comedy of
the 1920s. The story concerns a middle-aged, asocial musical theatre fan;
as he plays the record of his favorite musical--the (fictional) 1928 hit
The Drowsy Chaperone-- the show comes to life in his living room as he
wryly comments on the music, story, and actors. The Drowsy Chaperone opened
on Broadway on May 1, 2006. The show won the Tony Award for Best Book and
Best Score. The show has had major productions in Toronto, Los Angeles, New
York, London, and Japan, as well as two North American tours.
Auditions for *The Drowsy Chaperone* will begin at *8:00 pm Sunday and
Monday, November 18 & 19* at The Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County, 466
Carrie Ave. NW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663. Registration will begin at *7:30
pm*. All who audition should provide their own sheet music or vocal track.
Please NO a capella auditions. An accompanist will be provided. Songs
should be 24-32 bars in length, and preferably not from the show.
There will be a movement audition as well, so comfortable clothing should
be worn. Shoes cannot be sandals, heels, slippers, or clogs.

Readings from the script will only follow the music auditions.

The Drowsy Chaperone requires a cast of 20-24. Adults and teens are welcome
to audition for the show.

Performance dates for the Little Theatre production will be February 8-10,
15-17, and 22-23. Rich Jagunic will direct The Drowsy Chaperone, with
musical direction by Debra Burkhart, and choreography by Sonny Sonnhalter.
Those interested in production staff and crew, and musicians, are also
encouraged to register during auditions.
