Financial Management/Box Office Associate
Cleveland Public Theatre is hiring a new full-time position which provides a unique, challenging and interesting entry-level opportunity for professionals interested in a career in theatre management or not-for-profit management. This role will be a core part of the CPT staff and will make a meaningful contribution to life at CPT.
Job Description
The Financial Management/Box Office Associate is responsible for making patrons feel welcome as well as supporting the timely and accurate financial management of the organization. This role will work with patrons by phone and in person to get them excited about their CPT experience while maximizing revenue from the sale of tickets while also providing general reception duties. The position will also provide bookkeeping (via QuickBooks), manage vendors and office services, as well as assist with financial management, reporting, and the annual audit. Like all staff members, the role will positively contribute to the working environment at CPT and the success of the organization. This employee will report to both the Director of Patron Services and the General Manager and must frequently exercise independent judgment, initiative and ability to constantly re-prioritize competing responsibilities. Work week is 40+ hours, with regular evenings and weekends required October through June. Pay starts at $26,000 and includes health benefits.

Overall Responsibilities

*         Provide the Best Possible Patron Experience

o    Provide clear and accurate information about our performances, organization and neighborhood

o    Prevent and resolve customer disputes to mutual satisfaction

*         Facilitate Box Office Transactions

o    Conduct ticket sales by phone and in-person

o    Follow correct cash-out procedures and reconcile cash box

o    Generate box office reports

*         Maximize Ticket Sales

*         Support General Manager in financial management of organization

o    Entry of account payables and receivables into QuickBooks (Will train exceptional candidates as required.)

o    Management of payments and disbursements and general vendor management

o    Management of bank deposits.

*         Support CPT Office Staff by managing office services, equipment and resources

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

Skills

*         Exceptional conversation skills, verbal expression and warm attitude

*         Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel

*         Experience with customer relation databases or ticketing software is a plus

*         Basic knowledge of QuickBooks is a plus

*         Coursework or experience in accounting is a plus
Experience

*         Previous retail or customer service experience

*         Cash handling and cash drawer reconciliation experience

*         Previous work with financial information of some kind

*         Bachelor's degree in accounting, performing arts, humanities or related fields
Qualities & Personality

*         A genuine interest in the arts

*         Able to work efficiently and calmly in a fast paced environment

*         Enjoy speaking with and helping the general public

*         Natural curiosity in how things work

*         Ability to multi-function/prioritize and keep busy at all times

*         Ability to focus on details and work with numbers
Other

*         Available to work Monday, Thursday and weekend evenings October through June.
