*MANNING UP*, a play about two expectant fathers* *hunkered down in a man
cave waiting for the imminent birth of their children will open May 16.
The play is as close to reality as theater can come. *Peter Voinovich*,
who plays Raymond in the play, is actually waiting for the birth of his son
Spencer any day now. “We’ve passed the due date so he could make his
entrance any time,” said Peter. “Coming into a theater family, we’re
hoping he won’t interrupt rehearsals.” Peter is married to playwright
Sasha Thackaberry.

The production will have a preview performance on Thursday, May 16 with the
official opening on Friday May 17. The show will run for three weeks,
closing on June 2 at Greystone Hall in downtown Akron.

The production of MANNING UP is part of the National New Play Network’s
“Rolling World Premiere Project.”

*The Cast*

Joining Peter on stage is *Keith Stevens* who, like Peter, has frequently
appeared on the Actors’ Summit stage. Keith also has a clear understanding
of the situation his character (Donnie) faces since his daughter just
celebrated her first birthday. Keith is married to *Constance Thackaberry*,
Senior Artistic Associate at Actors’ Summit.

To further the family connections, *Neil Thackaberry* is directing and *MaryJo
Alexander* is costuming their sons-in-law.
