The Teen Drama Project, in its fifth year, has presented many topics of
discussion along with some outstanding theater. From racism to the
Holocaust to this year’s play dealing with the Salem Witch trials in New
England, director Angela Miloro-Hansen has not shied away from discussing
hard topics with her actors. Many come away with a new appreciation for
history as well as a better understanding of societies.

Arthur Miller’s classic play, the Crucible, is based largely on actual
people living (and dying) through the witch trials. The piece also
explores the behavior of people in groups, and how quickly intolerance and
rumor can become the norm, even in “civilized” society. Miloro-Hansen gave
the actors an assignment to research their characters, and they developed
picture boards for a lobby display. It brought them, she feels , a closer
bond and better understanding of the person and the time.

Discussions of tolerance and lack of it led to many opinions, as the actors
talked of modern day examples of events that can take on a life of their
own.
All the actors, ranging in age from eleven to twenty, are excited with
their knowledge and portrayals. They hope to share a classic piece of
literature, knowledge and well honed acting skills with an audience for
three performances , May 30 and 31 at 8pm and June 1 at 2pm.
Tickets are reserved seating, and only $5 for these performances and can be
