CVLT's Summer Musical is one singular sensation: A Chorus Line

CHAGRIN FALLS, OH - A CHORUS LINE, conceived and originally
choreographed and directed by Michael Bennett, with a book by James
Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, music by Marvin Hamlisch and lyrics by
Edward Kleban, is a juggernaut of American musical theatre. After
opening on Broadway in 1975, the show won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama,
nine Tony Awards (including Best Musical, Score and Book) and the New
York Drama Critics Circle Award. It ran for nearly 15 years, closing on
April 28, 1990 after a record-setting 6,137 performances. Chagrin Valley
Little Theatre brings this classic to its main stage from July 18 to
August 16.

A CHORUS LINE shares the story of a group of ambitious dancers competing
for 8 coveted spots in the chorus of a Broadway musical. Through the
audition they bare their souls while sharing stories of their childhood,
ambitions, fears, and experiences in show business. Breaking from the
standard Broadway narratives of the time, A CHORUS LINE's formula of
monologues and songs could be seen as the precursor to the reality TV
shows of today. The songs, including "What I Did For Love," "One,"
"Nothing," "Dance: Ten Looks: Three," and "I Can Do That," have become
Broadway standards.

Director/choreographer Pamela LaForce helms CVLT's production with
musical director Nicholas Wilders. The cast includes Michael Litherland,
Alex Marzullo, Jake Washabaugh, Talia Consentino, Brandon Harmon, Jen
Justice, Sarah Durham, Greg Donnellan, Genny Vince, Sara Bogomolny,
Christian Nichols, Megan Astman, Cassandra Mears, Julian Kruyne, Devon
Turchan, Abby Zerull, Steven Tiderman, Katelyn Cassidy, Heather Strahl,
Belle Puckett, Marissa Gellander, and Alyssa Whiddon. A CHORUS LINE,
which was last produced on CVLT's stage in 1986, strikes a chord with
anyone who has ever striven for a job, for attention, for approval, or
for love.

A CHORUS LINE plays on CVLT's Main Stage at 40 River Street in Chagrin
Falls' Theatre District, July 18 -- August 16, 2014, with performances
on Friday & Saturday nights at 8 PM, with matinees Sundays 7/27, 8/3,
and 8/10 at 2 PM. Tickets are $20 regular, $16 students and seniors. Not
recommended for children due to adult themes and suggestive language.
Tickets for all CVLT productions can be purchased online at CVLT.org or
by phone at 440-247-8955 between 1-6 PM, Monday through Saturday. CVLT
is generously funded by Cuyahoga County residents through Cuyahoga Arts
and Culture and supported by the Ohio Arts Council.
