LCCC Civic Orchestra to Kick Off 2014-15 Season on October 4

The LCCC Civic Orchestra will kick off the 2014-2015 season with a concert at 7:30 p.m., Sat., Oct. 4 in the Hoke Theatre at Stocker Arts Center. 

Tickets are $8 for adults and $7 for LCCC students, staff and faculty and seniors 65 and older; and $6 for groups of 15 or more. Tickets may be purchased at the Stocker box office, by calling (440) 366-4040 or online at www.stockerartscenter.com. 

The Civic Orchestra is comprised of professional, amateur and student musicians from Lorain County and neighboring communities. Over the years, under the direction of Dr. Robert Beckstrom, the orchestra has developed a reputation for encompassing a wide range of musical styles from Purcell to Lutoslawski, while celebrating the great monuments of western music culture.

The concert will include:

George Frideric Handel, Concerto Grosso, Op.3 No. 4 in F

Witold Lutosławski, Musique funèbre

Antonin Dvořák, Nocturne in Bm, Op. 40

Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni, Concerto for Two Oboes in F, Op. 9 No. 3
Featuring oboe soloists Bruce Biggin & Kim Weaver

Henry Purcell, Incidental Music from Abdelazer Z. 570
