*HATHAWAY BROWN THEATRE INSTITUTE   -  Summer Training Classes begin June
17th*

There is still time to register!



Hathaway Brown Theatre Institute (HBTI), now in it's 7th year, offers
conservatory style performing arts training and professional production
experiences for young people from first grade through college.



HBTI, a part of the Performing Arts Department at Hathaway Brown School in
Shaker Heights, offers young people a challenging curriculum of drama,
dance and/or music, as well as the opportunity to participate in fully
staged productions.  HBTI boasts instructors who are some of the top
professional actors, directors, designers and academics in the area, and
who have a long list of successful former students who have gone on to
major university theatre programs, Broadway, national touring companies,
film and television.  HBTI faculty for 2019 season includes Ananais Dixon,
Comfort Dolo, Katie Gibson,  Dan Hendrock, Klara Hrcik, Bebe Weinberg Katz,
John Krol,  Rebekah Sharpe and  Ryan Zarecki. Directing this summer's
productions will be Bebe Weinberg Katz and  Dan Hendrock with music
direction by John Krol, scenic design and projections by T. Paul Lowry,
lighting design by Tom West, sound design by Carlton Guc and, costume and
prop design by Vanessa Cook


HBTI offers unique theatre programming on three levels: *PRIME*( grades
1-3) ,* INTERMEDIATE* (grades 4-6) and *PERFORMING ARTS TRAINING* (7th-
college).  Special advanced curriculum is available for high school
students who qualify.

*Session One *and *Session Two* are each 3-week long and *Session Three *is
for 2 weeks.  Session start dates are: June 17, July 7 and July 29
respectively.


HBTI Director Bebe Weinberg Katz said, "While the training at HBTI is
geared toward the young performer with professional aspirations, all our
students gain the confidence, discipline and social skills that will help
give them the extra edge in this highly-competitive world, no matter what
their eventual field of pursuit.  The students also find the process
immensely *FUN, EXCITING AND REWARDING. *HBTI is the perfect place to make
life long friends."

Since 2013 Hathaway Brown Theatre Institute (HBTI) has been the summer
theatre home for more than 900 students who have taken classes and
workshops in acting, musical theatre and dance and nearly 400 of its
students have been involved in HBTI's highly acclaimed productions. These
productions have received numerous broadwayworld.com nominations and awards
for direction, choreography, set and sound design and best production for
young audiences. Some of the high nominated shows included HBTI *productions
of The Music Man, 25th (2018), Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
(2018), Children of Eden (2017), *Into the Woods (2016), Rent -school
edition (2015) A Chorus Line (2014) and You're a Good Man Charlie
Brown (2013).


This season, HBTI will mount two full productions: *OLIVER!*, directed and
choreographed by Bebe Weinberg Katz, (June 28 - July 7) and  A NEW
BRAIN, directed by Dan Hendrock (July 26 – August 4).  HBTI productions are
a direct extension of the training.  "Our shows allow the students to apply
the tools and techniques they learn during the day in productions mounted
by top professional directors and designers."  Katz added, "Our young
performers have the opportunity to participate in productions of the
highest professional level.
