	_SHAKESPEARE’S R&J_

A WILD AND UNRESTRAINED ADAPTATION BY JOE CALARCO

	NOW ONSTAGE AT CONVERGENCE-CONTINUUM

In a repressive Catholic boys' boarding school, four students
discover the forbidden text of Shakespeare’s play _Romeo and Juliet
_and secretly enact the play, taking turns reading the play aloud. The
words and story are thrilling to the boys, and they become swept away
in an athletic deluge of adolescent agitation, anxiety, and fierce
desires that parallel their own lives. Although they had been taking
turns playing all the parts, two of the boys eventually emerge playing
Romeo and Juliet exclusively, bringing a whole new dimension to the
proceedings.

	            “Hot-blooded ... Wrenching ... pulsates with
an adolescent abandon and electricity of which Romeo himself might
approve”   -The New York Times

“A superb adaptation that will open your eyes and ears to the piece
as if you were experiencing it with unjaded wonder for the first
time.”  -The Independent (London)

_is directed by convergence-continuum’s Executive Director Cory
