Job Description Cleveland Public Theatre is hiring a full-time Co-Technical Director. This role will work in collaboration with another Co-Technical Director to manage and implement all technical aspects of productions except costumes. This position is a year-round, salaried, staff position. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. CPT will be accepting applications for this position through Monday, March 12, 2018. The Co-Technical Director reports to the Associate Artistic Director and will have the following responsibilities: * Manage scene shop and maintain its organization * Maintain tools and equipment * Maintain technical aspects of performance spaces * Work with designers to assure that they design within budget and organizational capacity * Build sets, hang lights, and set up sound for performances * Work with General Manager for billing and documentation * Recruit, engage, and oversee limited over-hire * Purchase equipment and supplies as needed * Strategically develop the technical theatre department * Teach and mentor teens in the Technical Theatre Apprentice Program * Design opportunities may be available Technical Director has a limited budget for over-hire but does not have full-time, year-round staff. Qualifications The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: Skills * Exceptional project management skills, i.e. the ability to access, prioritize, and drive multiple productions at the same time * Exemplary communication skills * Ability to collaborate and be a team player * Strong technical skills in at least two, but ideally three, of the following areas: 1) scenic design and set construction, 2) lighting design and master electrician work, 3) sound design and sound technician, and 4) video design and implementation * Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs * Knowledge around managing expenses and budgets * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel * Working knowledge of VectorWorks, QLab, and other industry standard technical theatre programs Experience/Education * Minimum 2 years of professional technical theatre experience * Preferably 2 years of experience working in a small scale theatre * Proven track record of success in shop organization * Some staff management and/or administrative experience preferred * Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Staff Description CPT cares passionately about reflecting our community and pursuing diversity at all levels of the organization.
