The play addresses theissues of sibling rivalry, race in the African American community (at thattime), homosexuality, and the price of success. The main character, NAPPY, isa "self made man" who is tough on his family and demands respect fromall that cross his path. He is conflicted with the changes he sees in hiscommunity and his family's desire to leave his oppressive control and findtheir own lives. He loves them but does not know how to communicate that love. What is aDramatic Reading ? It’s a ‘Dry Run’ for a play. Thereare no props or staging. It’s just the acting out of the written word. It isthe audience’s chance to “see” the play in their minds…It’s a chance for theAuthor, Director and Producer to“see” the reaction of an audience. Please, come, enjoy and share your opinion of thiseffort. We plan for a full stage play early in 2017. Thank you in advance! Richard S. Asbury, Playwright Sue Johnson, Director,Producer
