Based on the popular 1988 comedy film starring Steve Martin and Michael
Caine, /Dirty Rotten Scoundrels/ is a musical about on two con men
living on the French Riviera; high-brow Lawrence Jameson (Rob Albrecht)
makes his lavish living by talking rich ladies out of their money, while
low-brow Freddy Benson (Trey Gilpin) swindles women with lies about his
ill grandmother. After a chance meeting, they unsuccessfully attempt to
work together only to find that the town isn't big enough for the two of
them. So they make a bet: the first one to swindle $50,000 from a young
heiress (Heather Hersh) triumphs and the other must leave town. What
follows are a series of musical schemes, masquerades and double-crosses
in which nothing may ever be exactly what it seems!

/Dirty Rotten Scoundrels/ features the music and lyrics of David Yazbek
(/The Full Monty/) and a book by Jeffrey Lane. It had its world premiere
at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre in September 2004, and opened on
Broadway in March 2005 to rave reviews, and was awarded 11 Tony Award
nominations, including Best Musical.

*Also Starring:* Heather Englander, Neely Gevaart, Brandon Hood, Sharon
Lloyd, Libby Merriman, Clayton Minder, Eric Oswald, Wes Roj, Emily
Tillmaand, and Brenda Willis.

CVLT's /Hear Who's Here/ series of local speakers continues with
acclaimed author, columnist and lecturer Scott Lax's presentation,
"Translating Personal Experience into Art." Scott has been a
contributing editor and columnist for "Cleveland Magazine"; senior
writer for "Northern Ohio Live" magazine; front-page columnist for "The
Sun News", book reviewer for "The Cleveland Plain Dealer", and has won
numerous nonfiction awards from the Ohio Professional Writers and the
Cleveland Press Club.

Scott will read from and talk about his novels, short stories, essays
and nonfiction memoir, and explain how he wove his experiences,
observations and imagination into each of these writing genres. And he
will respond to speculation about his first novel's relationship to the
Village of Chagrin Falls, by revealing previously unknown facts
concerning his 1970s-era novel "The Year That Trembled." He will also
provide a literary update regarding which of the first novel's
characters appear in his latest novel, "Vengeance Follows," which is set
in present day.

This three-part initial series will be held on the first Wednesday of
each month at CVLT's River Street Playhouse

50 years. Through the decades, they have assisted behind the scenes for
productions, held fund raisers, redecorated, refurbished and maintained
the theatre, hosted 'talks' with local celebrities, and helped CVLT in
other, innumerable ways.

In recent years, they have sponsored the successful Gingerbread Tea

One morning in 1986, a Dutch librarian discovers in the return slot a
book checked out in 1873 and only just returned. His sense of library
decorum outraged, the librarian determines to find the party
responsible, and to collect the appropriate fine. His quest takes him
not only all over the physical world, but on a journey of remarkable
spiritual discovery. A tale of seemingly petty bureaucratic procedure
becomes the stuff of profound revelation about our relationship to
responsibility, fate, humanity, and God. Full of both pathos and humor,
Glen Berger's play both entertains and illuminates.

/Underneath the Lintel/ ran for over 450 performances Off-Broadway. It
won a 2001 Ovation Award (Los Angeles), the 2003 Sterling Award
(Edmonton) for Best Play, and was selected as one of Time Out New York's
Ten Best Plays of 2001. CVLT's presentation joins a long list of
productions in over 55 cities in 8 countries.

Robert Hawkes has been seen recently at Clague Playhouse, the Ohio
Shakespeare Festival, the Beck Center, Ensemble Theatre, the Cleveland
Shakespeare Festival, the Chagrin Falls Performing Arts Academy, and
Cleveland Public Theatre.

CVLTis seeking six actors for /Don't Dress for Dinner
<http://www.cvlt.org/81stSeason/dontdress.php>/, Robin Hawdon's
adaptation of Marc Camoletti's hilarious farce, in which a man named
Bernard is planning a weekend with his mistress. He has hired a gourmet
cook, is packing his wife Jacqueline off to her mother's, and has
invited his best friend, Robert, to provide an alibi. It is foolproof.
What could possibly go wrong? Suppose Robert doesn't know why he has
been invited? Suppose Robert and Jacqueline are secret lovers? What
happens if the cook is mistaken for the mistress and the mistress can't
cook? Mix these ingredients at high heat for an evening of hilarious
confusion!

*Show Dates: *June 5 - 25, 2011, Fridays & Saturdays at 8

Directed by Barbara L. Rhoades

    * The cast of 6 includes: Bernard, Jacqueline his wife, Robert his
friend, Suzanne his mistress, Suzette the cook, and her husband
      George.
    * Ages range from mid 30's to 60.
    * This is a British comedy set some distance from France. British
dialect is essential but Suzette and her husband George may be

    * We will be reading scenes from the script.
