Positions
Available for Akron After School Program

 

Adam Hoffman, a provider for Akron After School, is looking
for instructors for the Fall of 
2012 and Spring 2013. The courses are Crazy Acting Games, which explores the
dramatic arts, and Wacky World Traveler, a multi-disciplinary class which
incorporates games, art, and storytelling to help encourage children to become
excited about world cultures. 

 

Projects and areas of concentration for Wacky World Traveler
include:

Mask making/necklaces

Folk stories from around the world

Geography reinforcement 

Games from different cultures

 

The curriculum is flexible, allowing instructors to share
areas of expertise with the students.

 

We are looking for energetic, creative individuals who are
capable of teaching diverse elementary school groups in the Akron Public School
System. This is a great position for education majors looking for hands on
teaching experience.


 

Dates: Classes start
October 15th and end December 6th.  The spring session of 2013 starts
February 4th,  and run
through March 28th. 
Teachers don’t have to be available for both sessions but they do need
to be available for the full eight weeks of class.

 

Hours:  3:45-5:15 Monday, Wednesday, and
Thursday. 2:45-5:15 on Tuesday. Teachers can choose to work specific
days—Mondays and Wednesdays, for example.

 

Compensation: $30
per class taught.  Tuesdays are
double class days.

 

Location:  Various elementary schools in the Akron
Public School system.

 

Instructors will be given lesson plans and an
orientation.  Instructors should be
professional, reliable, have their own transportation, and be able to handle
children in groups of 4-15.
